You do not have to wait for Friday to get away. A night in the Helensville hills can mean an afternoon on the deck, an evening in the spa and breakfast with the valley stretching out in front of you.
Black Barn Valley Retreat is about 45 minutes from central Auckland, depending on traffic. The whole house is yours for your stay, with room for up to eight overnight guests. Regular accommodation stays have a one-night minimum, so you can plan a short pause in the week or give yourselves a little longer.
A house to share, with room to settle in
There are three king bedrooms, a queen bed in the upper lounge, two bathrooms and two lounges. Outside, two decks look across the valley, with a private spa and an outdoor table for gathering together. An overnight escape, without a packed itinerary
After checking in, unpack and take your drinks out onto the deck. There is no need to fit an outing into the afternoon: spend it catching up, reading or simply watching the light move across the hills.
For dinner, bring something easy to share. The full kitchen and outdoor BBQ give you options, while Helensville has cafes, a bakery, a supermarket and places to eat if you would rather head out. Check opening hours before making weekday plans. Food and catering are arranged by you.

Have a second night?
A longer stay leaves time to explore the area without rushing back to pack. Browse our nearby places to visit, choose one outing that suits your group, and leave the rest of the day open. A second evening back at the house is part of the appeal.
Dates, prices and the practical details
Midweek stays are subject to availability. Check the booking calendar and send Louise your preferred dates and guest numbers. She will confirm availability and the total price for your stay.
The current accommodation rates are shown in New Zealand dollars and include GST. There is parking for up to seven cars. Weddings and private events have their own arrangements and a two-night accommodation minimum.
For direct accommodation bookings, cancellations up to five days before check-in receive a full refund; cancellations within five days are non-refundable.
